Materials so far...

Another weeks has passed and it seemed like the front wheels for the car were still to be found until a last minute find at the car boot fixed this. Its been a few weeks trying but eventually we now have the smaller front wheels we need. At just £5 for the whole bike there are plenty of other bits that will be very useful in the build and best of all were reusing bits rather them being scraped and saving money at the same time. It would seem the set of rear wheels will cost more than the rest of the car!
This is not the only reused bit we have either. The floor comes from a sheet of plywood used to package solar panels (double the eco hit on that part) which was kindly given to us by Cornwall Cullet. The seat/ battery hatch was meant for the camper van but instead has a new home, and the steel comes from a selection of beds given to us by John Fowler Holidays.
Making the car "green" is a big part of this project and one I think were achieving quite well so far.

Greenpower gets Grandpirx review

An interesting article was brought to my attention today. Maurice Hamilton was at this years Corporate Challenge seeing what life's like in the world of Greenpower. A very good read and great publicity for our racing series! http://www.grandprix.com/columns/maurice-hamilton/the-next-newey.html

The first entry!

Welcome to Hampton Racing.
I can't think of a better day to make the first entry than day one of the build for my new Greenpower car.
As the introduction above says, this blog has been set up to outline what I'm doing in the world of Greenpower racing and today that involved cutting the floor pan for the car. Nothing too exciting at the minute but I will keep all updates posted on here so I hope you come back soon.
Cheers for now...
